Ceasefire could end if hostages are not released: Netanyahu warns Gaza
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also reacted to this and said that if Hamas does not return our hostages by Saturday afternoon, the ceasefire will end and the IDF (Israeli Army) will continue intense fighting until Hamas is decisively defeated.

Israel warned that if any hostages were not released by the end of this week, fighting in Gaza would resume. The statement came in the context of a ceasefire agreement that has largely succeeded in halting the conflict that has been going on for the last 15 months. Israel and Hamas had promised to release the hostages in batches in exchange for Palestinians. So far, five hostage-prisoner swaps have been completed.

Tensions over the agreement have increased in recent days and diplomatic efforts to maintain it have also intensified. Under the Gaza ceasefire agreement, Hamas has to release Israeli hostages in exchange for which Israel will release Palestinian prisoners. So far, hostage-prisoner exchange has taken place five times.
The war began after Hamas attacked Israel on 7 October 2023, taking 251 hostages and killing approximately 1,200 people.

At least 48,208 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks, according to Gaza's Hamas-run health ministry. The United Nations says about two-thirds of Gaza's buildings have been damaged or destroyed by Israeli attacks.
