Souths superstar Chiranjeevi has landed himself in trouble after his remark about wanting a grandson went viral. The actor disappointed his fans when at a pre-release event of Brahma Anandam he called his home a ladies hostel because of the presence of more females including his granddaughters. He then said that he is constantly wishing for his son Ram Charan to have a baby boy in the future in order to continue his legacy. The actor at the event said When Im at home it doesnt feel like Im surrounded by my granddaughters; it feels like Im a ladies hostel warden surrounded by ladies all around. I keep wishing and telling (Ram) Charan at least this time to have a boy so that our legacy continues but his daughter is the apple of his eye. Im scared that he might again have a girl. Take a look here: Dear Chiranjeevi garu I have respect for you as an actor. However I would appreciate some clarification on your recent statement. It came across as misogynistic and seemed to imply that a legacy can only be carried forward by a male child or men. Did you truly mean to suggest… pic.twitter.com/2ylwxsSXut — Sudhakar Udumula (@sudhakarudumula) February 12 2025 As soon as the video went online it quickly grabbed netizens attention. Several of Chiranjeevis fans slammed the actor for his patriarchal mindset. Many of them even questioned why despite having granddaughters he fears for his legacy—arguing that even they (Chiranjeevis granddaughters) can carry it forward. A user took to X (formerly known as Twitter) and wrote These kinds of words are wrong when said publicly as they send a backward message. The fact that everyone laughed at those words shows our flawed thinking. Many internet users also pointed out that in the last few days Chiranjeevi has been completely going south compared to his image by using vulgar words on stage—commenting on girl children as not heirs and more. On the other hand even a user also asked for an explanation of Chiranjeevis comment. The user said It came across as misogynistic and seemed to imply that a legacy can only be carried forward by a male child or men. He further asked what Chiranjeevi truly meant! Meanwhile Chiranjeevi is the father of actor Ram Charan. Ram and his wife Upasana Konidela welcomed their daughter Klin Kaara in 2023. Now with these remarks from Chiranjeevi all his fans are left sad and disappointed. What are your thoughts on the comments?
