Mythic Quest has just dropped what some might call its best episode yet - a lavish murder mystery complete with stunning costumes, a spooky mansion and enough jaw-dropping twists to make Agatha Christie proud.

While we won’t be spilling those juicy reveals here, fans can expect a rollercoaster ride unlike anything the Apple TV+ series has done before in the fourth episode of season four, The Villain’s Feast.

Speaking exclusively to Screen Time, main cast member David Hornsby recalled: “It was nice to put ourselves in a new environment with these stakes that are heightened, these fun faux stakes.

“It was really fun to get out of the office and in a completely different environment.”

His co-star Charlotte Nicdao, who portrays Poppy Li, chimed in to divulge a surprise connection to a popular Disney movie that viewers not in the know might totally miss.

“It was an amazing house and as far as I understand it, it was the same mansion that they filmed The Princess Diaries in,” she revealed.

“We’re obviously using very different lighting, but there’s a scene on the staircase that I think you can see.

“It was very exciting for all of us millennials who were like, ‘Oh my gosh! I’m the princess of Genovia!’”

Throughout the episode, the Mythic Quest team’s feeble executive producer David Brittlesbee (Hornsby) is desperately trying to appeal to his younger colleagues.

Unfortunately, they don’t quite gel with his rather dated references to Cary Grant, although his talents on the piano are sure to impress viewers.

“There were a lot of riffs and improvs we were doing with that,” Hornsby said.

Nicdao admitted: “I can’t even see David in this episode at all without laughing, because he was making the whole cast laugh so much during that episode. I want to see the edit where we just see all of your improv.”

“I did have an extended bit where I kind of became the grandfather in A Story,” Hornsby recalled. “The owner of the house was renting it to the production and was allowed to watch and that bit went on…"

“This was not when we were shooting,” Nicdao clarified. “This was just like whenever you would see David while we were not shooting the show he was doing this character.”

“Very creepy,” Hornsby said, and his co-star remembered: “We were in pieces, it was great.”

As for David’s stunning musical performances, Hornsby sadly had to admit he wasn’t doing his own ‘stunts’ on this occasion.

“No. I have very basic piano skills and I learned some chords, but once we got to it, it was like, ‘Oh no, I can’t play. The expert piano player is sitting next to me’,” he revealed.

Fans will get the chance to see the entire Mythic Quest cast in an entirely new light as they got dressed up to the nines for an evening of cryptic challenges, hosted by Jo (Jessie Ennis) with an inexplicable British accent.

Naomi Ekperigin, who portrays head of HR Carol, recalled: “It was something that felt, this is going to sound silly, but the most ‘actor-y’. We’re in costume, there’s a whole wig, we’re in this old mansion and I was in heaven.

“It was giving Downton Abbey, I was like, ‘this is what I want every day to be’. I said ‘give me a Bridgerton moment’. I’m obsessed with any outfit so it was really fun.”

As for the cast member who cleaned up the best, she added: “I said wow to everybody, but, when I was watching it back, I did text Danny Pudi and I said ‘You and your wife should get married again and you should wear that suit’. I was like, ‘You are sharp’.”

While Ennis added: “And I loved Rob [McElhenney]’s costume and he was definitely walking differently that week.

“He loved putting his glasses on and being like, ‘Good morning’. He was kind of in character the whole time which was really fun.”

The Villain’s Feast is now available for your streaming pleasure, just don’t expect to guess the earth-shattering final twist.
