IND vs ENG: Gill's 100, Kohli & Iyer's 50s propel India to 356

It seems that England's decision to field first in the 3rd and final ODI against India at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad has not worked in their favour. While they got the perfect start by dismissing Indian captain Rohit Sharma for just a run, they soon lost control. Opener Shubman Gill continued his fine form, while Virat Kohli regained his touch. Shreyas Iyer maintained his attacking momentum, and even KL Rahul capitalized on the opportunity to score runs.

At the end of 50 overs, the Men in Blue posted a massive total of 356 all out. England, however, may believe they did well to contain India in the death overs; otherwise, their task would have been even steeper.

India's strong batting display

After being put to bat, India suffered an early setback as Mark Wood bowled a beauty to dismiss Rohit Sharma in the second over. Virat Kohli started cautiously, looking slightly unsettled, but gradually found his rhythm. Meanwhile, Shubman Gill appeared confident from the start, and together, the 'King' and the 'Prince' forged a solid partnership.

Kohli, however, fell soon after reaching his fifty, once again falling victim to Adil Rashid in this series. Gill, undeterred, maintained his attacking intent and found an ideal partner in Shreyas Iyer, with the duo effortlessly accumulating runs.

Gill played a magnificent innings, reaching a well-earned century, but was soon undone by a brilliant delivery from Rashid, departing for 112. Iyer also notched up a crucial fifty but fell unexpectedly for 78. KL Rahul added valuable quick runs, scoring 40 off 29 balls.

England's play

The English side managed to pick wickets at regular intervals in the death overs, slowing India's run flow, as the hosts managed only 67 runs in the last nine overs. Hardik Pandya (17 off 9), Axar Patel (13 off 12), Washington Sundar (14 off 14), and Harshit Rana (13 off 10) played small cameos.

For the Three Lions, Adil Rashid was the standout bowler, picking up four wickets, while Mark Wood took two. Gus Atkinson, Joe Root, and Saqib Mahmood chipped in with one wicket each.
