Wednesday was the sixth consecutive day that the local stock market finished down, with the Sensex dropping 122 points due to ongoing withdrawals of foreign funds and concerns over the trade war.
After a rebound in banking sectors, the 30-share BSE Sensex, which had fallen more than 900 points throughout the day, finished at 76,171.08, down 122.52 points, or 0.16 percent.
The index fell 905.21 points, or 1.18 percent, to a low of 75,388.39 in the first half, below the 76,000-level. It did, however, recover losses and trade in the afternoon session thanks to a rebound in metal and financial equities. Selling in IT and energy equities caused the barometer to lose its gains in the final session.
The NSE Nifty saw its sixth consecutive day of losses, falling 26.55 points, or 0.12%, to 23,045.25.
