Maghi Purnima’s increased passenger volume has put a great deal of strain on the Howrah-New Delhi rail line, causing many trains to be delayed or cancelled. Several trains that travel through Prayagraj have been postponed by authorities, which will impact services on Wednesday and Thursday.
Howrah, Sealdah, and Ranchi Rajdhani Express are among the important trains that are running late. The Bikaner-Howrah, Jammu Tawi-Tata, and Nandan Kanan Expresses had delays on Wednesday as well. On Thursday, there might be a four-hour delay for several long-distance trains.
On Thursday, trains are operating late:
The Rajdhani Express from New Delhi to Howrah (12302) leaves at 6:50 PM rather than 4:50 PM.
With a two-hour delay, the New Delhi-Sealdah Rajdhani (12314) leaves at 6:30 PM rather than 4:30 PM.
The Bikaner-Howrah Express (22308) leaves at 2:30 PM rather than 10:30 AM and arrives late on Thursday evening.
The Jammu Tawi-Tata Express (18102) is scheduled to arrive late on Friday; it left at 6:20 PM instead of 2:20 PM.
The four-hour delay caused the New Delhi-Ranchi Rajdhani Express (20408) to depart at 8:10 PM.
On Wednesday, there will be further delays:
Instead of departing at 6:00 AM, the Bikaner-Kolkata Pratap Express (12495) left at 10:00 AM.
Instead of departing at 7:30 AM, the Anand Vihar-Puri Nandan Kanan Express (12816) left at 11:30 AM.
Instead of arriving in the afternoon, the Duronto Express from Bikaner to Sealdah arrived in the dark, five hours and twenty-one minutes late. It took three hours and twenty-one minutes for the Poorva Express to arrive at Dhanbad from New Delhi to Howrah.
Cancellations of Trains
The Railways has warned that 10 trains would be canceled between February 13 and February 22, which is likely to cause further annoyance to passengers. These consist of:
MEMU Express Bardhaman-Hatia (13503 & 13504)
Intercity Ranchi-Howrah (18628 & 18627)
Passenger from Ranchi to Bokaro (58034 & 58033)
Passenger Hatia-Sanki (58663, 58664, 58665, 58666)
Furthermore, the Raxaul-Secunderabad Special and Malda Town-Surat Express will use other routes, avoiding Ranchi. These modifications are the result of a block for the Ranchi Railway Division’s building of a four-lane road/rail overbridge at Sirmatoli.
