VIJAYAWADA: The hearing on a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking the transfer of cases against Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Ministers Nara Lokesh, P. Narayana, K. Atchannaidu, K. Ravindra, MLA Chintamaneni Prabhakar, former Minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, businessman Lingamaneni Ramesh, Vemuri Harikrishna Prasad, and others to the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate was postponed by the Andhra Pradesh High Court on Wednesday.
Journalist K. Balagangadhar Tilak filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the High Court, arguing that because the accused are now in power, it is impossible to conduct an unbiased inquiry into the complaints brought against them for alleged corruption and frauds that occurred between 2014 and 2019. Therefore, he stated, the cases have to be turned over to the ED and CBI.
Advocate General Dammalapati Srinivas informed the court that an advocate had previously filed a similar plea in the Supreme Court, but it had been denied. He asked for more time to submit the order from the Supreme Court. The hearing on the matter was postponed for two months.
