Abdoulaye Doucoure seems unfazed by 's criticism regarding his red card in the Merseyside derby. The midfielder was one of four individuals dismissed after the final whistle at Goodison Park on Wednesday.

Doucoure's exuberant celebrations in front of the away fans sparked an irate response from 's Curtis Jones. This led to a mass brawl between both sets of players.

Referee Michael Oliver subsequently sent off both Doucoure and Jones, with Liverpool manager and his assistant Sipke Hulshoff also both dismissed. Now, the Everton player has responded in the face of controversy.

In a social media post following the dramatic match, he wrote: "PASSION , DETERMINATION, DESIRE - GOODISON PARK". Doucoure's message was published just a matter of hours after he was publicly criticised by Liverpool captain Van Dijk.

The Dutchman implied that the former Watford star was responsible for the post-match chaos. He said: "We saw how they celebrated the goal, they have all the right to.

"I think Abdoulaye Doucoure wanted to provoke our fans, I think that is what I saw and Curtis Jones didn't think it was the right thing to do. And then you know what happens if there is a little tussle.

"I didn't think the referee had the game under control. Both teams had to deal with it. This was their cup final. I think the referee had a big part in the game, in terms of certain challenges were given as fouls and similar weren't."

Everton manager has voiced his frustration over Doucoure's red card during the heated Merseyside derby, highlighting how his suspension is a major negative for the Toffees heading into their clash with Crystal Palace this weekend, saying: "I didn't see it from where I was.

"I have had a chance to see it and I'm disappointed because Doucoure played really well tonight and I'm going to now lose him because he's got a second yellow card which turned into a red.

"The emotions were running high here all night, the stadium was at fever pitch. You could see what it meant to supporters at the end of the game, the crowd was rocking. It was one of the big nights."

Ultimately, Everton snatched a point from the rivals, with Beto opening the score before Alexis Mac Allister and Mohamed Salah turned the game on its head. Everton then ensured the last Merseyside Derby at Goodison Park was one for their fans to remember when James Tarkowski smashed a sensational volley past Allison in the dying seconds.
