China has introduced a visa-free policy for tour groups from Southeast Asian countries, allowing them to visit Xishuangbanna in Yunnan Province for up to six days.
The National Immigration Administration announced the measure on Monday, and it took effect immediately.
The policy applies to groups of two people and more from ASEAN member states, including Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam, the South China Morning Post reported.
To qualify, travelers must book through a Chinese travel agency. The tour group members must also enter and leave China together.
Located in southern Yunnan and bordering Laos and Myanmar, Xishuangbanna, one of the eight autonomous prefectures of Yunnan, is a major tourist destination known for lush tropical rainforests and diverse cultural heritage.
It is home to the Dai ethnic group, whose traditions share similarities with Thai culture.
The region also boasts distinctive temples and a variety of ecotourism activities, making it a popular choice for both domestic and international visitors.
