Actor and filmmaker RJ Balaji joined hands with Suriya for an upcoming film, which has been tentatively titled ' Suriya 45 ', and the first-ever collaboration built significant buzz. As expectations soar for 'Suriya 45', the movie’s production is currently underway, with key sequences being shot along Chennai’s East Coast Road (ECR).

Now, according to Thanthi TV, during the filming, unexpected roadblocks emerged in the Velichai village area on the Kelambakkam-Vandalur stretch of ECR, where makeshift platforms were set up for the shoot. Concerned by the sudden road closures, local villagers alerted the authorities. In response, the Kelambakkam police intervened and halted the initial stage of filming, citing a lack of proper permissions.

Following this, officials advised the production team to secure prior approval from the Tambaram Metropolitan Police Commissioner’s office. As a result, the setup work was discontinued. Despite this brief setback, shooting continues at a brisk pace, and the makers are gearing up for a grand release of 'Suriya 45' in September.

'Suriya 45' stars Suriya and Trisha Krishnan in lead roles, marking their reunion after two decades. The ensemble cast includes Swasika, Indrans, Yogi Babu , Sshivada, Natty Subramaniam, and Supreeth Reddy. Initially, AR Rahman was set to compose the music, but Sai Abhyankkar has taken over. Cinematography is handled by GK Vishnu, and R Kalaivanan is the editor. The film's shoot began in November 2024 in Pollachi, with Coimbatore as one of the primary locations. While the plot remains undisclosed, the upcoming film is expected to be an action-packed emotional drama centered around a hero’s journey.

Meanwhile, Suriya will be next seen on big screens in 'Retro', which is helmed by Karthik Subbaraj , and the gangster drama is slated to release on May 1.
