Dr. Arogyaswami Paulraj is the name behind MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) technology which has become the backbone of modern wireless networks. However Paulraj’s contributions extend far beyond wireless communication. During his tenure in the Indian Navy he made remarkable contributions to defense research. He played a key role in developing indigenous SONAR technology and the APSOH system he created is still in use on several warships today. Born in Pollachi Tamil Nadu in 1944 Dr Paulraj joined the Indian Navy at age 15.
