Nia Sharma enjoys Mumbai's pink bloom: It felt like I was in a different world - Exclusive

It’s that time of year when Mumbai’s Eastern Express Highway transforms into a stunning corridor of pink. The Vikhroli stretch , lined with vibrant trumpet blossoms, offers a rare and captivating sight — one that evokes the famous cherry blossom lanes of Japan. From December to April, the city’s otherwise grey thoroughfare bursts into colour, drawing admiration from passers-by. Actress Nia Sharma recently took a stroll through this floral display, embracing the moment with childlike wonder. She said, “The pathway, covered with delicate pink petals, felt like something straight out of a fairytale! I’m usually restless, hyper, and always on the move, like a monkey! It was such a contrast to my usual vibe for photo shoots — mostly wild, gothic, and funky. But this was a moment of pure girly joy. Sometimes, it’s nice to embrace that softer side (laughs!).”
She added, “For a while, it felt like I was in a different world. You see such scenes in other countries, but to witness it in India felt special. We don’t often get to see this kind of beauty here, and I’m grateful to Bombay Times for taking me there. It was peaceful and truly rare in a city like Mumbai.”
Walking through the cherry blossom trail in Mumbai was a refreshing experience for Nia, and she hopes to relive it. “Amidst the daily hustle, it’s important to take a step back, breathe, and enjoy moments like these. The pink splendour was like a breath of fresh air, a welcome change from Mumbai’s usual sights — seeing trees in full bloom instead of half-finished roads and broken bridges. It made me appreciate the city in a whole new light,” the Jamai Raja actress, who was last seen in Suhagan Chudail and Laughter Chefs - Unlimited Entertainment , concluded with a smile.
