Diaz has previously expressed his happiness at Liverpool, notably after Colombia’s emphatic win over the United States in June. However, speculation about a potential move to the La Liga giants continues.

Spanish outlet recently claimed that Díaz’s representatives had been in contact with the Catalan club, though Colombian journalist Pipe Sierra denied the claims on X, while acknowledging there is interest.

He said: They deny that the Colombian has been offered to Barcelona. [But] they confirm that they have dialogued due to the interest of the Cules since 2023. His future will depend on his renewal (or not) with Liverpool."

Arne Slot has already had to address questions about Díaz’s future since taking charge, previously laughing off transfer rumors ahead of Liverpool’s clash with Ipswich Town.

Despite this, Diaz’s father, Luis Manuel Diaz, admitted in 2023 that his son has long dreamed of playing for Barcelona.

He said: "It is true that Luis is a loyal Barcelona fan and it would be his dream to go there. So far I would like to thank Porto and Liverpool for the way they welcomed him and received him.

"Luis is a player who finds it easy to win over because of the way he is, because of his humility, his work, his dedication, he is a very disciplined player, thank God. There would be no problem if Luis came to Barcelona because it is a top team and one of the best in the world."

Liverpool.com says: While Diaz has expressed his happiness at Liverpool, ongoing links to the Camp Nou refuse to go away. Slot has played down the rumors, but if a serious offer arrives and with Barcelona said to be prioritizing a move for the Colombian, Liverpool will have a major decision to make. Diaz remains a key player for the Reds and if he can find his top-form it may silence the talks for now.
