Global technology giant Meta is expanding its presence in India and will appoint engineers and product experts for artificial intelligence (AI) roles. Facebook's original company Mata has announced a new office in Bengaluru. With the move, Meta is following the route of other major technical giants like Microsoft, Google and Amazon, who have already established strong engineering and product teams across Bengaluru and all over India.

According to a job listing on Meta's website, the company is appointing an engineering director who will be responsible for creating a strong technical team in Bengaluru. This role will play an important role in shaping Meta's long -term engineering appearance in India.

On LinkedIn, several meta employees shared that the Bengaluru Center is being established by the company's enterprise engineering team. This team focuses on creating internal equipment to increase productivity within the meta. The company is also recruiting hardware engineers to support its growing AI infrastructure, including data center operations and custom chip development.

Meta, which entered the Indian market in 2010, already has offices in cities like Gurugram, New Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Bengaluru. However, most of its employees in the country are engaged in works like sales, marketing, business development, operations, policy, legal and finance.

The new Bengaluru office is a symbol of a change, as the company wants to expand its engineering abilities in India. According to a Meta spokesperson, the company wants to appoint some engineering professionals in Bangalore. India is the largest user market in Meta, where more than one billion people use its products including Facebook, Instagram and Whatsapp.

The country has often been a test site for new meta features and equipment. In 2020, Instagram Reels was widely launched in India for the first time after Tiktok was banned. Earlier this week, Google inaugurated a large complex called “Ananta” in Bengaluru, with teams from various divisions including Google Deepmind, Android, Search, Pay, Cloud, Maps and Play.
