Bantwal: A truck carrying soft drinks overturned and caught fire near Sattikallu, close to Maani on National Highway 75, on Sunday. The accident occurred after the driver lost control of the vehicle, leading to a fire that damaged the truck’s tires and several other parts.

The truck driver, identified as Mohammad Irfan (37), sustained injuries and was immediately rushed to a hospital in Puttur for treatment.

The truck, which was transporting soft drinks from Athavulla’s company in Gooninabali, overturned at Sattikallu. Upon impact, a spark ignited a fire, engulfing the truck’s tires and other sections. The flames also spread to the cargo, burning a significant number of soft drink bottles.

The Bantwal Fire Department promptly arrived at the scene and managed to extinguish the fire.

Due to the impact of the crash, soft drink bottles were scattered all over the road, causing a major disruption in traffic.
