People's Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti attacked Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather, saying that the role of the Assembly Speaker is to protect the rights of the members of the Legislature, not to act as a censor (controller). He said that the chairman is implementing a kind of martial law.
This remark of Mehbooba Mufti came after taking seriously the promotion of the House's work notice before the budget session by Assembly Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather. The Speaker has asked the members to stay away from breach of privilege. On which Mufti expressed his displeasure.
