A case was registered against six people on charges of gangraping a 22-year-old woman at two different places in Maharashtra’s Bhiwandi. According to the police, the woman was gang-raped in the early hours of February 20 near a school.
A report with The Times Of India suggested the woman was abducted by her ex-boyfriend and was gang-raped by four of his friends.
The report claimed that the woman and the main accused – her boyfriend, had been in a relationship for the past few years.
As the woman entered into a relationship with another man, her ex got enraged and allegedly abducted the woman’s brother on the night of February 19. He then forced the woman’s brother to call her to the place.
“The woman got a call from her brother that night claiming he was in distress. When she reached the place he asked her to come to, the accused beat up the survivor, her brother and the autorickshaw driver who had ferried her," news agency PTI quoted an official as saying.
“The accused raped her near a school in Nagaon and inside a pickup van in Fatimanagar," the official said, suggesting that the woman was gang-raped at two different places.
The survivor approached the Bhiwandi Police after she managed to escape. Subsequently, a First Information Report (FIR) was registered in the case.
All the six accused were charged under various sections for rape, gang rape and other offences under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and were yet to be arrested, according to the official.
