Kaho Naa...Pyaar Hai was a blockbuster that marked the debuts of Hrithik Roshan and Ameesha Patel. Written directed and produced by Rakesh Roshan it is one of the best Bollywood romcoms of all times. Apart from engaging storyline the film is also renowned for its melodious songs. One of the most memorable sequences of the movie was the island shot where Rohit (Hrithik) and Sonia (Ameesha) find themselves stuck on a beautiful yet isolated island. But do you know in reality which scenic place this was? Filmmaker Rakesh Roshan in an interview revealed an interesting story behind this location. He shared that during the films pre-production he travelled to Australia to find a suitable ship for filming. However none of the options he saw fascinated him. So while looking for a perfect setting for the scene he found a postcard in Athens. The postcard had a sailboat which caught his attention instantly. The other thing he was attracted to was another postcard behind it which featured unique rock formations in the middle of the sea. The place was Krabi Island in Thailand. He was so fascinated by the place that he flew from Australia to Phuket and drove four hours to reach Krabi. The moment he arrived and saw the location he instantly knew that this is what he wanted and was searching for a while. He called it the location I had always dreamed of. Rakesh Roshan said that whenever he starts working on a film the first thing he does is explore different locations after finalising the script. I dream about those locations and I will go to every corner of the world to find the location I have dreamt of he added. Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai was released in theatres on January 14 2000.
