The holiest month of Islam, Ramadan is going to start in a few days. Muslims all over the world are busy preparing for it. While this month is called the month of worship, it is also a profitable month for many businesses.
Dates are considered a special fruit in the 30 days of fasting. Dates are the most sold items during Ramadan. Saudi Arabia not only sells oil but is also the largest producer of dates. Saudi Arabia's dates are exported all over the world and its purchase increases manifold during Ramadan. According to the report, Saudi Arabia exports 70 percent of its dates only during Ramadan.
Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture reported that date exports from Saudi Arabia rose 5.4 percent in 2022 from a year earlier to 1.28 billion Saudi riyals (US$340 million).
Data shows the Kingdom exported more than 300 varieties of dates, ranking first in terms of value among 113 countries, according to the International Trade Centre.
Saudi Arabia not only sells dates to other countries, but also gives them as gifts on the occasion of Ramadan. This year, the Saudi Arabian government has sent 700 tons of dates as gifts to 102 countries of the world. These gifts are being sent on behalf of King Salman.
This is not the first time, Saudi Arabia does this every year and this tradition has been continued this year as well. This year 200 tons more than last year i.e. 700 tons of dates will be sent to other countries. This program is being overseen by the Islamic Affairs Ministry of Saudi.
