Joyce Highland took centre stage in during Sunday's episode but fans are only just learning about Renee Bailey's rather saucy TV past.
The midwife found herself in big trouble following an official complaint from a patient and is facing her disciplinary hearing alongside Sister Julienne, played by Jenny Agutter. The meeting comes after Joyce attempted to help a racist mum-to-be, who blamed her for the fact she'd developed thrombosis.
But it's a very different character role the actress played three years ago which has left fans shocked. Renee starred in Three series Mood, and it was racy with the wannabe rapper desperate to make it in music. Playing a sex worker in the six-parter, Paris was required to be company for some older men.

During one of the encounters with a client, she and pal Sahsa appear in a music video with the pair dressed in bondage-esque outfits while performing a track, Charge It. Actress Renee also shows off her rapping skills in the Cardi B-inspired tune.
Fans of the show have been clip-sharing on social media and videos of Renee wearing the fishnets and PVC black dress left plenty floored. They rushed to comment, with one saying: "No way is that Joyce from Call The Midwife" while another put: "I cannot unsee Joyce in fishnets."
The star clearly has no regrets. She said she was "so grateful" for the role in a sweet social media post, writing at the time: "And that’s a wrap on Paris #Mood. So grateful to have played this part in what is a mammoth of a show. Trial by fire. First TV job. Getting to act, rap and dance. Teen Ren would be gassed. Grateful for @thelecky vision, story and trust in me for this one My CHARGIE And of course the legend @shaheenbaigcasting."
Renee also loves her new less sexual role as Joyce, who she described as a "force". She said: "She is driven and knows what she wants. She’s come to England from Trinidad and was training in Birmingham before London.
"I’ve tried to bring in a little more softness as well as qualities that I love in Black women generally. I don’t want her to just be this stereotypical idea of what a strong black woman looks like. She has a lot of tenderness." Renee also played Laila in eight episodes of hit series Rebel Cheer Squad, released in 2022. Back in 2014, she starred in mini-series How to be a Person.
Call The Midwife airs on Sunday on BBC One.
