Patna (Bihar) [India], February 25 (ANI): Union Minister Chirag Paswan defended Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Bihar amid opposition criticism, particularly from Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav, who has raised concerns over the Prime Minister's frequent visits to the state amid the upcoming elections.Speaking to ANI, Chirag emphasised that such attention from the Prime Minister is a "matter of good fortune" for Bihar. "Those who are questioning the Prime Minister's repeated visits to Bihar perhaps don't know that even before this, the Prime Minister has visited Bihar. His programs have been organised in Darbhanga. He has already held a program in Jamui on Janjatiya Gaurav Divas. Today, the Prime Minister was in Bhagalpur. It is a matter of good fortune for any state that the country's Prime Minister is paying so much attention to that state. He is a guarantee of fulfilling the promises," he said.The Union Minister also credited PM Modi's leadership for significant developments, including the establishment of two AIIMS in the state and the formation of the Makhana Board to support local producers."It is no small achievement that there was a time when there were only 2 AIIMS in the country; now there are 2 AIIMS in Bihar...It is a big thing for us that the Makhana Board was formed in Bihar as Makhana is produced the most in Bihar," he added.Reacting to PM Modi's Bihar visit, Rashtriya Janta Dal Leader Tejashwi Yadav said that everyone will visit the state now due to the elections this year."There is an election in Bihar, and this is the only election that will be held in Bihar this year. The elections in Delhi have already concluded. We had said earlier that everyone will go to Bihar, and people will flock to Bihar," Yadav said.Yadav emphasised that despite Bihar having provided a "double-engine government" for two decades, the state remains at the bottom of several key development indices.While acknowledging that the Prime Minister's visits to Bihar were frequent during election times, Yadav accused Modi of using empty slogans and failing to address the state's real concerns. The Bihar Legislative Assembly election for all 243 constituencies is scheduled to be held in October or November this year. The last assembly elections were held in October-November 2020. (ANI)
