The Supreme Court will hear the status report of the Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday in the Sambhal Masjid case. This report states that the well located near the Mughal Shahi Jama Masjid in Sambhal is one of the 19 ancient wells. The administration has prepared a plan for their renovation. The well has no relation with the mosque

The government has also told the bench that the well has no relation with the mosque, even the royal mosque is built on public land itself. The wells have been used by all communities for a long time, but after the communal violence in 1978, a police post was made on one part of it and the other part continued to be used later, but around 2012, this well was covered around 2012. .

The UP government said. This well is one of the 19 ancient wells whose district administration is engaged in renovation. Sambhal will get cultural identity from these historical wells and this will attract a large number of tourists. The district administration's scheme is also included in the development of many facilities like Parikrama Path, Sign Board, but the Masjid Committee is trying to stop the development of the area.

The government has said that there is no water in the well near the mosque, but the objective of the district administration is to fulfill rain water harvesting, water recharge and other purpose through this well. The case will be heard in the Supreme Court on Tuesday. On January 10, the Supreme Court had ordered the Uttar Pradesh government, Archaeological Survey and other authorities not to take any action regarding the well.

The court gave this order

The court passed this order on behalf of the Masjid Management Committee, considering the petition filed by the Masjid's entry to maintain the status quo. At the same time, the Central Government, Director General of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), Sambhal's District Magistrate and Hari Shankar Jain, who filed suit, issued notice to the persons associated with the Hindu side and ordered to file their reply within two weeks. Was.

The court also stopped the notice issued by the Sambhal Nagar Palika Parishad in relation to the well located near the mosque. Senior advocate Hujifa Ahmadi, appearing for the mosque committee, attracted the attention of the bench towards the notice issued by the municipality, claiming that the well is a temple.

During the hearing, Chief Justice Khanna asked what is the harm in allowing others to use it. On this, senior advocate Ahmadi said that in the notice issued by the municipality, it (Kuan) has been called Hari Mandir. Now they will start using it for worship, bathing etc.

Plan to start religious activities there

He said that the well is being used for the mosque. Emphasizing the historical significance of the well, senior advocate Ahmadi said that water has been extracted from this well since time immemorial. The Muslim side had expressed concern over the notice issued by the municipality, saying that it has been planned to start religious activities there, stating Hari Mandir.

It was said on behalf of the Muslim side that some part of the well is inside the mosque complex and some outside. He also cited a picture of Google Map before the back in support of his claim. The Masjid Management Committee had filed a petition in the apex court on Thursday that Sambhal district administration is running an alleged campaign to revive the old temples and wells in the city.

The petition said that according to reports, at least 32 old unused temples have been restored and 19 wells have been marked for public use and prayer. Also, the list of wells to be restored by the district administration includes private well located near the entry of the mosque. The petition ordered to maintain the status quo on the well.
