Bollywood actress Preity Zinta has been away from Hindi cinema for a long time. Preity Zinta married Gene Goodenough a Los Angeles-based finance analyst in 2016 and settled there. She is away from Bollywood but she stays close to her fans through social media and her IPL team Punjab Kings. Recently news came about the actress in which it was said that a loan of Rs 18 crore in her name was waived off by the troubled New India Cooperative Bank Limited. Now Preity has strongly reacted on this matter.
What are the allegations against Preity Zinta?
Preity Zinta denied these allegations in a statement and issued a clarification on the matter. The controversy started when a report by Money Life revealed massive financial mismanagement and alleged corruption in the bank due to which the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) took strict action on its operations.
According to the report corporate loans of up to Rs 25 crore were sanctioned without the knowledge of the branch manager. Many of these loans allegedly turned into non-performing assets (NPAs) within a year due to fund diversion. One of the most high-profile cases involved an alleged loan of Rs 18 crore to Bollywood actress Preity Zinta. The report claimed that this loan was taken without following proper recovery procedures.
Preity Zinta strongly reacts to rumours
According to a report by TOI amid these allegations Preity Zinta stated that the portal was through her legal team. She said More than 12 years ago I had an overdraft facility with New India Cooperative Bank. More than 10 years ago I fully repaid all the dues in respect of this overdraft facility and the account has been closed (sic).

The report further alleged that more than 80 senior staff members were forced to resign in the year 2019 prompting the employees to urge the RBI to conduct a forensic audit dissolve the board of directors and recover the losses from the personal assets of those responsible.
