Raj Kapoors personal life much like his cinematic journey was a rollercoaster of highs lows and perpetual drama. However whether on-screen or off-screen he still remains the undisputed showman mesmerising everyone with his irresistible charisma. While several facets of his life made headlines it was his relationship with several female co-stars- especially his alleged affair with Nargis- that garnered massive attention. Well neither Kapoor nor Nargis addressed their relationship publicly but his son Randhir Kapoor mentioned in his autobiography that Raj Kapoor was involved with many of his female co-stars despite being married to his mother Krishna Malhotra. When Raj Kapoor spoke about his relationship with Nargis Once in an interview Raj Kapoor spoke about Nargis cryptically without mentioning her name. He told how he made things clear with his wife Krishna. In a documentary produced by Prasar Bharti Kapoor broke his silence over his relationship with Nargis. She was very young. Angelic absolutely… What a great actress she was. Films for me meant a complete absolute dedicated devotion and belonging. So anybody and anything that revolved around it very much became a part of my being. And I must say that (Nargis) contributed a lot to what RK (Studio) is. Kapoor said. He further clarified that he never intended to marry Nargis and drew a line between the woman he used to work and his wife Krishna. Right from the very beginning from the word go I drew a line. And it’s a very very straight fact that my wife is not my actress and my actress is not my wife. By my wife I mean the mother of my children. So my home life somewhere or the other was there. Krishna was the mother of my children. While here was my actress. She would share and have that satisfaction of having contributed to my creativity. That is her satisfaction. Raj Kapoor said. However Kapoor was always very secure the he would never leave his family for Nargis. Then eventually Nargis got married to Sunil Dutt. Reports claim that Kapoor was devastated when he heard the news of her marriage and used to burn himself with cigarettes.
