Mangaluru: CCB police arrest man arrested for peddling MDMA

Mangaluru: The Mangaluru CCB police arrested a man for allegedly transporting and selling the banned narcotic MDMA from Bengaluru to Mangaluru. The accused, identified as Asif alias Achi (32) from Sajipamooda village in Bantwal, was taken into custody on Tuesday.

Police seized 27 grams of MDMA worth Rs 1.35 lakh, along with a mobile phone and a digital weighing scale. The total value of the confiscated items is estimated at Rs 1.45 lakh. A case has been registered at the Mangaluru South police station.

The accused has a history of drug-related offences, with three cases registered against him in the past—one at Suratkal police station in 2018, another at Vitla police station in 2021, and the latest at Bantwal Town police station in 2023.

The operation was carried out under the guidance of CCB ACP Manoj Kumar Nayak. The team was led by Inspector Rafiq K.M. and included PSI Sharanappa Bhandari, ASI Sujan Shetty, and other CCB personnel.
