The Supreme Court on Tuesday made a big comment in the Yamuna pollution case. The court said that now all disputes can be resolved by changing the government in Delhi. Plans may be implemented better in changed circumstances. A bench of Justice BR Gawai and Augustine George Christ made this comment. Justice Gawai said, I think the schemes can now be implemented better in changed circumstances.

Earlier in the Supreme Court, senior advocate Meenakshi Arora had said that the NGT is monitoring the issue related to the Yamuna river through a committee. Meenakshi is engaged in helping the Supreme Court as Amicus Curie. He said that in January 2021, the NGT dissolved the committee after the Supreme Court took automatic cognizance of the case.

Is there any petition related to this case pending?

On the other hand, the bench believes that the Yamuna river has some other petitions related to pollution, which are pending before another bench of the court. The court has asked the Additional Solicitor General Aishwarya Bhati presented by the Center to find out whether any petition related to the case is pending.

Monitoring Committee is monitoring it

Nyayamitra said that the NGT has passed orders from time to time regarding various compliances regarding the Yamuna River. The monitoring committee constituted by the NGT is monitoring what is being done in relation to the sewage treatment plant and the Common Fluent Treatment Plant between Haryana and Delhi.

Should we send it back to NGT?

The bench asked, should we send it back to the NGT. On this, he suggested that the NGT can better monitor it. The bench said, if you all agree on it, then take instructions that the NGT can monitor it or we can get the CEC monitored. The next hearing in the case will be held after the holiday of Holi.
