The temple management has prepared specific routes for the Akharas, who will also have darshan at the temple this year as part of a unique arrangement.

Security and logistical procedures have been stepped up in anticipation of the large crowds to make sure that everyone enjoys a hassle-free and safe experience.

Strict procedures will be followed from February 25 to 27 when the temple opens all four of its gates to make darshan simpler for the pilgrims. This year’s Mahashivratri will include a special darshan window at the Akharas, enabling devotees to see the procession in two distinct lines and in a well-organized fashion. The temple will be open until 10:00 PM after the Mangala Aarti in the morning, giving devotees plenty of opportunity to ask for blessings.

The government has also placed medical facilities at key locations, including ORS to prevent crowd members from being dehydrated, in anticipation of the enormous number of tourists who would be arriving for darshan. Equally important is traffic control, which involves directing car owners to park outside of Banaras.

CCTV cameras and drones will track the movement of guests, and more security personnel have been sent in to effectively control the throng. To enhance safety and expedite activities, the Kashi region has been separated into 18 sectors and six zones.
