A Bollywood movie without an antagonist is always incomplete. The thrill of the film always comes when we see a hero fighting off the villain and good prevailing over evil. Similarly today we will talk about a villain who gave a tough fight to the hero. The movie we are talking about is based on a story of revenge. Despite being made on a small budget of Rs 16 crore the film was a massive hit.
Helmed by Sriram Raghavan the movie in discussion is Badlapur. The movie featured Varun Dhawan Huma Qureshi Nawazuddin Siddiqui Yami Gautam Radhika Apte and Divya Dutta in important roles.
The action thriller was released in 2015 with Varun playing the lead role. On the other hand Nawazuddin played the antagonist in the film. The actors character was named Liak Mohammed Tungrekar. If reports are to be believed Nawaz was not given any dialogues in the movie.
However he was given the opportunity to create his own dialogues and speak whatever he wished to as long as it was appropriate for the scene.
Sriram Raghavan did not want the music video of the song Jee Karda to be a part of the film. In an interview with Film Companion he said that it was included at the insistence of producer Dinesh Vijan and even today he does not like this song at all.
Revealing more about the film Raghavan said the casting of Varun Dhawan was completely coincidental. He said I had told the story of Badlapur to Dinesh Vijan and I was worried whether he would like it or not.
Coming back to the budget and box office collection of Badlapur the movie was made for Rs 16 crore and went on to earn Rs 81.3 crore worldwide. The film also has an IMDb rating of 7.4. Furthermore the movie is available on Amazon Prime Video.
