Debbie Greenwood shared a health update on social media after undergoing surgery. The former star said she had been admitted to hospital for a second stay before sharing some good news.

Taking to X on Tuesday night, the broadcaster, 65, revealed she is doing a lot better.

Posting a clip with pictures of herself over the years, Debbie wrote: "I know I've been a bit quiet these past few months, but following a second stay and surgery at the amazing Kingston Hospital, I'm all better! Look out world - I'm coming for your chocolate!! Thank heavens for our NHS! http://Debbiegreenwoodceremonies.com."

Social media users flocked to comment on the news as many sent their well wishes including Radio 2 presenter Tony Blackburn, who penned, "Glad you're better."

A second commented: "Glad you're feeling better Debbie."

A third penned: "Wonderful news, glad to see you back in the saddle!"

A fourth said: "Hope you are on the mend, welcome back."

Debbie was taken to hospital for an "unexpected six-night stay" to have treatment in January.

Taking to social media at the time, she wrote: "A huge thank you to the amazing team at Kingston Hospital who looked after me so well for my unexpected 6 night stay. You were so, so kind, attentive, patient and cheerful."

Explaining that the hospital in Kingston, Surrey, had been " so busy", she continued: "The hospital is incredibly busy - especially A&E. But still - what an NHS we have! Thank you, thank you."

Debbie made her debut on TV in the eighties, hosting shows including BBC Breakfast Time, now known as BBC Breakfast.

The former Miss Great Britain also hosted a show for Radio 2 in the late 80s.
