At the UN Human Rights Council’s 58th session, India blasted Pakistan, describing it as a “failed” state that is only living on aid from other countries. After Pakistan brought attention to the purported human rights abuses in Jammu and Kashmir, India responded. India admonished the neighboring country to concentrate on its own problems, even as it reaffirmed that Pakistan has been a major human rights violation.
Indian ambassador Kshitij Tyagi said that Pakistan was promoting its anti-India agenda by disseminating false information and abusing global forums such as the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). According to Tyagi, the council has been wasting its time on an unstable state that has failed. He said that India is committed to the fundamental principles of democracy.
It is unfortunate that Pakistan’s leaders and delegates are still disseminating lies that have been passed down from the country’s military-terrorist complex. By using the OIC as a soapbox, Pakistan is demeaning it. It is regrettable that a failing state that feeds on instability and subsists on foreign handouts continues to squander this Council’s time. Its inhumane acts, hypocritical rhetoric, and inept leadership are all blatantly obvious. India is still committed to democracy, development, and upholding the dignity of its people. “Values from which Pakistan would benefit,” Tyagi said.
“Pakistan ought to concentrate on its own problems.”
Tyagi further emphasized to Pakistan the continued importance of J&K and Ladakh to India. According to him, the area has seen tremendous growth in recent years. “J&K and Ladakh, the Union Territories, will always be an essential and unalienable component of India. J&K’s remarkable economic, social, and political advancements over the last many years speak for itself. These achievements demonstrate the public’s faith in the government’s will to restore normality to an area devastated by decades of terrorism supported by Pakistan,” he added.
He said that Pakistan should concentrate on its own issues instead of its “unhealthy” fixation with India. “Instead of its unhealthy obsession with India, Pakistan should focus on providing actual governance and justice to its own people,” Tyagi said. India has repeatedly warned Pakistan that the government is committed to upholding human rights in the area, which is properly itss.
