In a shocking incident, Bihar cops brutally thrashed a mentally challenged man with batons in the Katihar district. A video of the incident has been circulating, which prompted the police to take action against the accused cops.

As per the video, a member of a House Guard and a police official can be seen brutally hitting the victim as he sits on a road. Further, a man, who appears to be the driver of the vehicle, then got off, took the stick from one of the officials and began hitting the victim repeatedly on his legs. Meanwhile, the other official held the victim’s hands and later asked the assaulter to stop.

Even as the victim pleaded, the driver hit him repeatedly before dragging him to the back of the vehicle. As per the witnesses, the victim had not done anything wrong and was beaten up by the officials and the driver without any reason.

As the video went viral among the netizens, the Katihar Police took cognisance of the matter and suspended two cops, and action has been taken against two Home Guards and a driver.

Katihar Superintendent of Police (SP) Vaibhav Sharma said that strict action has been taken against Assistant Sub-Inspector Kedar Prasad Yadav and Constable Preeti Kumari of the Pothiya police station, Home Guards Sikandar Rai and Kishore Mahato and private driver Bambam Kumar.

As per the police’s release, Sub-Inspector Yadav and Constable Kumari have been suspended with immediate effect, while the Home Guards have been suspended for a year. Additionally, an FIR has been launched against the driver.
