Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said here on Thursday that more than 16,000 trains were run for the Maha Kumbh, transporting about five crore pilgrims to the event. Vaishnaw informed reporters that over 4,000 trains ran during the most recent Kumbh in 2019, and he was there to thank the railway staff for their efforts during the Maha Kumbh Mela.
While four times as many trains were operated this time, there was a plan to run more than three times as many. For the last two and a half years, work has been underway on this,” he said.
More than 16,000 trains carried 4.5 to 5 crore people to Maha Kumbh, where they were transported to their final destinations, according to the ministry. I want to express my gratitude to all of the railroad employees that collaborated. “This Maha Kumbh’s greatest accomplishment is the cooperation of all State and Central government departments as well as railway workers.” In this sense, no one can beat us if we all unite,” the minister said.
According to Vaishnav, the railroads spent over Rs 5,000 crore in the Maha Kumbh, building over 21 flyovers and underpasses, including a new bridge across the Ganga River. Additionally, he said, “proper arrangements were made for the passengers and holding areas were created at every station.” New kinds of foot-over bridges were constructed during this period. He said, “Rails made all sorts of arrangements keeping passengers in mind.” Prayagraj hosted the Maha Kumbh from January 13 to February 26.
