WWE has always pushed boundaries when it comes to storytelling, but sometimes, it has gone too far. Over the years, several promos have sparked outrage due to their racist undertones, offensive language, or insensitive depictions. While some were accidental, others seemed intentionally scripted for shock value. Here’s a look at the most controversial racist promos in WWE history that left fans stunned.

Vince McMahon - John Cena

In a promo, the then WWE Champion John Cena crossed paths with Vince McMahon. The WWE boss first started, “What's happening in the Hood.” To which John Cena replied “Just Taking care of business (championship). Vince McMahon then said, “Keep it up Ni**a.” The promo also showed Booker T being nearby and protesting against what happened.

Booker T

Booker T in a 2000’s promo was giving an interview for an ongoing feud with Hulk Hogan. However, the veteran wrestler crossed the line on live TV and instantly regretted it as well. While challenging Hulk Hogan, he said, “We are coming for you ni**a. Booker T within a split second realized what he just said and had his hands on his head regretting it.

George Bush Jr. Parody Segment

WWE in the 2000’s even mimicked sitting US President George Bush Jr. However, there were certain instances that showed the US President in a negative light with the use of race. The parody actor tried to subjectify black women and also went on to say the N-word on live TV. Rumors suggest that Vince McMahon knew what exactly was going to go into the promo.

Moreover, in the segment, the wrestlers involved in talking to George Bush Jr. parody were also portrayed poorly. One of the wrestlers while hugging the Bush actor stole the wallet from his pants. This segment tried to generalize blacks in the light of crimes. What was the creative team trying to say here through the whole segment?

Triple H mocks Booker T

In a championship segment between Triple H and Booker T, lines were crossed that shocked fans even today. World Heavyweight Champion Triple H said to Booker T, “Somebody like you doesn't get to be a world champion.” Hunter looked Booker T up and down while saying this suggesting it was likely racism at play.
