New Delhi: Pakistans upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025 clash against Bangladesh has taken an unexpected turn with Bangladeshs spin bowling coach Mushtaq Ahmed making serious allegations against two legendary Pakistani cricketers. Ahead of the February 27 match Mushtaq publicly accused Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis of harassment and announced his intention to file a defamation lawsuit seeking Rs 35 crore in damages. He stated that his legal team would soon issue formal notices to the two former pacers.
Mushtaq Ahmed who once played alongside Akram and Waqar during his career with Pakistan now finds himself on the opposite side of a legal battle. In a segment on the YouTube channel Sports Central he directly addressed the two legends in a video message. While acknowledging their right to critique him on sports shows he alleged that their remarks had crossed the line into harassment. According to Mushtaq he intends to seek Rs 20 crore from Waqar Younis and Rs 15 crore from Wasim Akram.
Reflecting on his playing days Mushtaq fondly recalled his time with the two fast-bowling greats mentioning how he always tried to stay composed in their presence. However the situation now seems to have escalated beyond the cricket field with a potential legal showdown looming. Following Mushtaqs public remarks Waqar Younis responded with an apology while Wasim Akram took a different approach standing firm and asserting that he was prepared to face Mushtaq in court.
Despite the seemingly serious nature of these claims the lighthearted banter between the former teammates suggests that the controversy may not be as grave as it appears. Waqar even joked that this situation would only add to the entertainment factor of their show. Eventually Mushtaq Ahmed clarified that his statements were made in jest and that the entire exchange was nothing more than playful camaraderie between old teammates.
