“Recent trip,” Li captioned his post, which featured photos of him in Japan.
In the images, Li is dressed in a down jacket, baseball cap, and dark sunglasses, smiling comfortably. Many of the comments noted that he appeared relaxed, with both his mental and physical health seemingly in good condition.
The Straits Times reported that Li has long been plagued by death rumors. During the filming of the 2010 drama “Ocean Heaven,” in which he portrayed a father suffering from liver cancer, Li’s weight dropped significantly due to a lack of appetite, leading some to speculate that he was ill in real life.
It was later revealed that Li was suffering from hyperthyroidism, a condition that causes fatigue and weight loss, which he manages with medication.
In 2018, a photo of him looking frail went viral, shocking fans and sparking further death rumors. Citing Sinchew, Znews reported that rumors of the actor’s death have consistently ranked among the most popular false claims.
Li, 62, was born in Beijing, China. His father passed away when Li was just two years old, leaving his family struggling financially.
At eight, Li’s talent for Wushu was recognized while he was attending a summer course. He later became the national all-around champion from 1975 to 1979 but retired from competitive wushu at 18 due to a knee injury, eventually becoming an assistant coach of the Beijing Wushu team, according to the South China Morning Post.
