New Delhi: Former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Kamran Akmal heaped praise on Indian superstar Virat Kohli calling him a global role model. Akmal stated that Kohli is the most popular cricketer in Pakistan and if he travels with the Indian team for the ICC Champions Trophy next year he will receive immense support from Pakistani fans. In an interview with the *Times of India* Akmal claimed that Pakistani fans admire Virat Kohli Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah even more than their own players. He urged the legendary Indian batters to visit Pakistan at least once before retiring. Akmal emphasized that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma should visit Pakistan before retiring as they are global cricketing icons. He stated that their immense fan base extends beyond India with Pakistani fans admiring them for their batting prowess and match-winning performances. According to Akmal the support they would receive in Pakistan would be unparalleled compared to anywhere else in the world. Former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Kamran Akmal hailed Virat Kohli as the most popular cricketer in Pakistan emphasizing that he has a bigger fan following than any other cricketer in the world. He stated that Pakistani fans admire Kohli Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah even more than their own national team players. Akmal urged the Indian trio to visit Pakistan before retiring as their presence would evoke unique emotions among the fans. He highlighted that Kohli had previously visited Pakistan during his under-19 days but was not as famous at the time. According to Akmal if Kohli visits now he will truly witness his immense popularity in Pakistan. He also praised Rohit Sharma as a World Cup-winning captain and hailed Jasprit Bumrah as the best pacer in the world. Akmal recalled that Rohit had traveled to Pakistan in 2008 for the Asia Cup as part of MS Dhoni’s squad playing in all six matches at the National Stadium in Karachi. However Kohli and Bumrah have never played an international match in Pakistan. India has not toured its neighboring country since 2008.
