At the scene of the incident at the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel in Telangana, forensic physicians from Osmania have arrived. The team will identify the dead and turn them over to the deceased’s family members who have also arrived at the site. It consists of two faculty members, two postgraduate physicians, and Sridhar Chari, the head of the forensic department.
Jaypee Company is in the process of getting the loco track ready to go to the accident scene. Currently, a 200-meter-long, 9.2-meter-high pile of mud, silt, and boulders is blocking the area. This substance has trapped parts of the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM). Since it has not been feasible to remove the dirt by hand, attempts are being made to move the loco to the location. To help with the process, a conveyor belt has been setup.
Rescue crews are actively trying to make access easier by pushing the dirt out with the loco as they remove 1.5 meters of soil buildup between the 12th and 13.5 kilometers.
