IND against NZ ICC Champions Trophy 2025: In last week’s encounter against bitter rivals Pakistan, India’s top batsman Virat Kohli hit a game-winning hundred. After hitting seven fours in 111 balls, he reached his century. In 42.3 overs, he assisted the team in reaching the goal of 242 runs. He was also chosen as the Player of the Match because of his game-winning effort.

When India plays New Zealand in their final group-stage encounter on Sunday in Dubai, Virat, who has now amassed 51 hundreds in this format, will want to maintain his incredible form and score a significant amount of runs once again.

He is aiming for several records as he will be playing his 300th ODI match against New Zealand.

He would become the nation’s top run scorer in ODIs against New Zealand if he managed to get 106 runs, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 1750 runs. Against New Zealand, Ricky Ponting holds the record for most runs scored in this format. He has participated in 51 games and scored 1971 runs.

4. Most hundreds against New Zealand in ODIs: After playing in 31 ODIs against New Zealand so far, he has hammered six hundreds. Kohli would become the first batsman to reach seven hundred runs in this format against the Kiwis if he were to get a hundred on Sunday. In this format, Kohli and Virender Sehwag have now amassed the same amount of hundreds against New Zealand. And Ponting, who scored six hundred against New Zealand to cap off their international career.

6. Second-leading run scorer in ODIs: During the intense match against bitter rivals Pakistan, Kohli became the second-fastest batter to reach 14,000 ODI runs.
