Chinese tech giant Tencent has launched its new AI model "Hunyuan Turbo S". The company claims that it is capable of giving faster answers than DeepSeek's popular model R1. The move is an indication that DeepSeek's growing influence domestically and internationally has put pressure on China's big tech companies.

According to Tencent, Turbo S is capable of giving answers in less than a second, while other models such as DeepSeek R1 and Hunyuan T1 take a little time before responding. The company said that when this model was tested in the areas of knowledge, mathematics, and reasoning power, its abilities were found to be equal to DeepSeek-V3. It is worth noting that DeepSeek-V3 is the same AI model that has overtaken OpenAI's ChatGPT in app store downloads.
