Bareilly: All day long, Mandi Chowk, which is well known for its jewelry bazaar, is crowded with shoppers. People go great distances to buy jewelry. These days, this market is also well-known for its mouthwatering ice golas and tikki chaat. The fragrance of delicious food fills Mandi Chowk as nighttime draws near.
The tantalizing aromas of tikki chaat, rabri ice cream, and gajar halwa entice city people to leave their houses. Until late at night, the plaza is still packed with patrons. Numerous well-known stores sell a range of sweets. Sitaram Bhola Kulfi’s ice golas and Shyam Chaat Bhandar’s tikki chaat are highly sought-after.
For warm halwa, people with a sweet craving swarm Rahul and Raja’s stores. Since 1957, Shyam Chaat Bhandar has been offering aloo tikki. The store was founded by Shyam Lale and is now operated by his great-grandson, Shivansh. They make their tikkis using authentic Desi ghee.
Around ninety years ago, Sitaram began combining milk and sugar to make rabri ice cream. These days, a kilogram of this unusual ice cream costs 400 rupees. Sonu Kashyap and Raja Kashyap’s stores provide a range of sweets for those who want something sweet after eating, such as rabri, gajar halwa, black and white rasgullas, several kinds of barfi, and rasmalai.
Every day, they make a small batch of candies, which often sell out in four hours. Finally, Pitaram and Krishna Kumar offer their handmade gajak from 8 p.m. until midnight for people who want it, particularly in the cold.
