India’s performance on the field was once again varied, with players making a number of catches and diving here and there to rescue some important runs. Fortunately, they didn’t suffer too much as a result of the lost opportunities. The two candidates, Axar Patel and Shreyas Iyer, were left behind by Virat.

Nuwan Seneviratne, the team’s throwdown specialty coach, presented Virat with the “best fielder” award, and the veteran shared his accomplishment with his colleagues. In his 300th ODI match for India on Sunday, the 36-year-old grabbed a catch on the field but only scored 11 runs at bat.

Following their decision to bowl first, the Blackcaps’ amazing fielding performance stole the show. Glenn Phillips, who is likely the finest fielder available right now, lay the groundwork.

In keeping with his reputation, Phillips made a spectacular grab early in the game to send Virat back with yet another superman-like leap to his right. As New Zealand kept saving vital runs on the field, Kane Williamson gave the game another unforgettable moment by dismissing Ravindra Jadeja with an incredible one-handed catch.

Speaking about the game, India defended their 249-run total while bowling New Zealand out for 205 runs in 45.3 overs. With a game-winning five-for, Varun Chakravarthy was the standout bowler for the Men in Blue.

With a crucial 79-run innings, Shreyas Iyer was the standout batsman, while Hardik Pandya (45) and Axar Patel (42) also made significant contributions.
