Pilot Training in Odisha: The Odisha government has taken a historic step and announced to provide pilot training to 50 tribal students (mainly women). The initiative aims to equip these students with the skills required to become a professional pilot in the aviation sector. The state's Commerce and Transport Department has recently issued a tender, in which a professional agency will be selected will provide training.

Pilot training will be available in Bhubaneswar.

According to the tender document, the Odisha government will identify at least 300 tribal students through the selected agency. 50 of these students will be selected after a proper screening process and will be given initial pilot training for eight weeks in Bhubaneswar. Most of these will be female students.

This training program will be eight weeks and in this, the candidates will be taught English proficiency, personal development, self-improvement and grooming, basic aviation knowledge, human performance and limitations, mental tests, group discussions, and interview techniques. Additionally, the candidates will also be given portable simulator training, which will improve their hand-eye-foot coordination and spatial orientation.

The program will run for five days a week with six hours of teaching time, which will include self-guided study, computer-based training, and mock exams. Regular assessments will be conducted after the completion of each module and special training sessions will be held on weekends for students who have lagged.

After this initial training of eight weeks, the selected 50 students will sit for the final selection round conducted by private airlines such as Air India and IndiGo. The top 10 students will be selected by these airlines through their tests and will be provided with technical training to make them professional pilots.
