Tax collection: Officials are given daily goals

On Sunday, Puli Srinivasulu, the commissioner of Guntur Municipal Corporation, met with tax officials and the deputy commissioner. Speaking at the event, he gave revenue officers instructions to collect any tax debts.

According to him, Rs 90 crore of the Rs 165 crore owed on private properties has already been paid. By March 31, he gave the order to collect an additional Rs 50 crore. He gave revenue officers daily goals to meet in order to recover unpaid taxes.

He gave the deputy commissioners charge of collecting large sums of unpaid taxes and threatened to take harsh measures against the careless officials.

In order to support the growth of Guntur, he asked the homeowners to promptly pay their property taxes, water taxes, D&O Trade licensing fees, and unoccupied land tax obligations.

He said that homeowners would be subject to a penalty if they failed to pay their taxes by March 31. According to him, the 140 ward secretariat cash stations, the GMC head office, and the circle office cash counters are all places to pay taxes.
