Mumbai: The Oscar 2025 saw a tough competition in the Best Live Action Short Film category. For this Grand Award, films like 'Anuja', 'I am not a robot', 'The Last Ranger' and 'The Man Hu Kude Not Reimen Silent' were nominated. However, this award was received by 'I am not a robot', with which India's short film 'Anuja' got out in this race.

Story of 'Anuja'

Directed by Adam J. Graves, 'Anuja' is the story of a 9 -year -old girl who works with her elder sister Palak in a textile factory in Delhi. Amidst the difficulties on the family, she is forced to bear the burden of responsibilities. The film stars Sajda Pathan as 'Anuja', while Ananya Shanbag played her sister.

Appreciation in festivals

'Anuja' was earlier highlighted at Holishores Film Festival, New York Short International Film Festival and Montkalair Film Festival. The film's executive producers include Priyanka Chopra and Anita Bhatia's names, while it is produced by Gunit Monga, who has won the Oscar twice. Also, Suchitra Mattai and Mindy are co-producers of the Kalinga film. The premiere of 'Anuja' took place on 17 August 2024 and it is streaming on Netflix.

Story of 'I am not a robot'

The Best Live Action Short film's Oscar winning 'I Am Not a Robot' is a science-fiction film written and directed by Victoria Warmaradam. The film tells the story of a person named Max, who suspects it to be a robot. When he fails in the online captcha test, he has to face many strange circumstances. Although 'Anuja' was not successful in winning the Oscar, its heart -touching story has definitely given it an international recognition.
