On the third day of Division B at the 15th Hockey India Senior Women National Championship held at Tau Devi Lal Hockey Stadium, Assam Hockey defeated the Hockey Association of Bihar 2-1.
Just before halftime, Assam Hockey broke the tie after a fiercely fought first quarter when captain Munmuni Das (29′) converted a penalty corner to take the lead. The winning team made sure it maintained its tiny advantage into the third quarter by playing tight defense.
Just before the final whistle, Khushboo Prajapati (59′) gave Assam Hockey another penalty corner, opening up the game once more. Nusrat Khatoon scored a consolation goal for the Hockey Association of Bihar in the very next minute. Assam Hockey has opened their account with this victory, whereas the Bihar Hockey Association is still having trouble.
Hockey Andhra Pradesh defeated Hockey Jammu and Kashmir 4-2 in their Pool B encounter on Sunday in Division C. Harathi Lomada (36′) and Madugula Bhavani (45′) also provided goals for Hockey Andhra Pradesh, while Revathi Thalari (3′, 17′) scored a vital brace for her team. Hockey Jammu and Kashmir’s goals came from Rajni (10′) and Anju Kumari (57′).
Le Puducherry Hockey defeated Hockey Arunachal 6-1 in Pool B in the last Division C game on Sunday. An outstanding hat-trick was achieved by Jayaprtha S (13′, 39′, 41′), with B Deepika (4,’ 22′) and S Subasri (40′) scoring the other three goals. Hema Navait (5′) was Hockey Arunachal’s only goal scorer.
A promotion and relegation system is part of the new structure for the 2025 women’s nationals, which will make the competition even more competitive and exciting.
There are twenty-eight teams competing in the competition. Division A, Division B, and Division C are the three divisions into which they are categorized. In addition to improving the competition, this new system gives clubs a clear route to move up to higher levels or face relegation depending on how well they do.
