Govinda affectionately known as Bollywoods Chi-Chi has left an indelible mark on the Indian film industry since the 1990s. With quicky hooksteps and unforgettable one-liners the actor captivated audiences ensuring full-house screenings and a thriving career.
Govinda made his Bollywood debut with the romantic drama Love 86 directed by Esmayeel Shroff. He then went on to star in films like Ilzaam Khudgarz Jaisi Karni Waisi Bharnii Taaqatwar Swarg Coolie No.1 Hero No.1 and more. However with an impressive filmography there are few of his films that failed to make an impact both critically and commercially.
One of them includes Rangeela Raja directed by Sikander Bharti and bankrolled by ex-CBFC chairman Pahlaj Nihalan. Released in 2019 the film is the unofficial remake of Rajinikanths blockbuster Netrikkan (1981). The film was declared a disaster at the box office as it couldnt even earn 1% of its budget. Made in Rs 19 crore the comedy drama managed to mint just Rs 18 lakh.
Rangeela Raja was initially scheduled for the release of 6 November 2018. However Central Board of Film Certification (CBC) later postponed the date with the actor claiming that people are deliberately opposing his film release. Later producer Nihalani appealed to the FCAT (Film Certification Appellate Tribunal) and the film was finally released on December 14 2018 following three cuts.
Govinda didnt sign any film after Rangeela Raja. The actor went on an indefinite break after his film was declared a massive flop. However recently the actor has been making headlines due to his divorce rumours with his wife Sunita Ahuja. The star couple is yet to make an official statement regarding the ongoing speculations.
