New Delhi: Delhi Police announced Monday that they have captured a wanted criminal from Rudrapur, Uttarakhand, who was accused of killing a youngster in 2021 for uploading a social media message.
An undercover head constable pretended to be a momo vendor in order to verify the identity of the accused, Bhuvan Joshi, who was subsequently captured. Since the 17-year-old kid was murdered in the Uttam Nagar neighborhood of Delhi, Joshi has been evading capture.
The victim was kidnapped and fatally murdered by a gang of guys in December 2021 after his social media post provoked outrage. Joshi was labeled a proclaimed criminal by a court in June 2022 after he escaped while the other defendants were captured.
Following the occurrence, the deceased’s sister filed a complaint, leading to the registration of a case at the Uttam Nagar Police Station. While Joshi escaped and was deemed a proclaimed criminal by a court in June 2022, other defendants were apprehended throughout the inquiry.
The police began an attempt to capture him. The team assigned to the Southern Range of Crime Branch, Malviya Nagar, discovered the hiding places of fugitive criminal Bhuvan Joshi in the Rudrapur, Uttarakhand, region after putting in a lot of technical and field effort.
It was discovered that the defendant, Bhuvan Joshi, had changed his identity, looked different, and operated a food stand in Rudrapur.
In order to verify the accused’s identification, Chief Constable Sonveer also pretended to be a “momo seller.” Additionally, he obtained important details on the accused’s housing and travels.
On March 2, after tenacious efforts, the accused was located and captured. Bhuvan Joshi tried to lie to the police during his first interrogation, but after being questioned for a long time, he admitted to being involved in PS Uttam Nagar’s murder case. He was promptly taken into custody under the relevant legal provisions and returned to Delhi.
“The Southern Range of Crime Branch has successfully traced and arrested a fugitive criminal, Bhuvan Joshi @ Bunty @ Bunty Singh (aged 31), from Rudrapur, Uttarakhand, who was wanted in a sensational murder case of PS Uttam Nagar, in which a 17-year-old boy was abducted and killed over uploading stories on Instagram,” stated DCP Crime Aditya Gautam, who was part of an operation against criminals escaping in heinous cases in Delhi.
