Tel Aviv: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs achieves a diplomatic triumph: Israel was not expelled from the World Medical Students Association.
After the effort to exclude Israel from the World Medical Students Association was unsuccessful, Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) is celebrating Monday night what it described as a “significant victory” in the international arena.
The MFA said it was successful in persuading the World Health Organization (WHO) to exert pressure on the World Federation while “making it clear that if the decision remained in effect, the ties between the World Health Organization and the Student Federation would be damaged.” The MFA attributed the victory to what it described as intensive diplomatic efforts made by its UN missions.
