The 97th Academy Awards was a historic night for this man as his visual effects company bagged its eight Oscar under Best Visual Effects category. We are talking about Namit Malhotra who has received this prestigious honour for his groundbreaking work on Denis Villeneuves directorial Dune: Part Two. The Oscar marked his company DNEGs eight victory with previous wins for Dune: Part One Tenet First Man Blade Runner 2049 Ex Machina Interstellar Inception. Namit expressed his gratitude for his victory and thanked thousands of artists technicians and support staff for contributing to the films tremendous success. He said For our team to be honoured with this year’s Oscar® for Visual Effects for Dune: Part Two is an incredible achievement and another milestone in our journey. This recognition by the Academy - our eighth VFX Oscar® since 2011 - is another endorsement of the creative and technical leadership of our teams here at DNEG. Namit is an Indian film and television producer as well as business executive. He is the eldest son of Bollywood producer Naresh Malhotra and the grandson of cinematographer M. N. Malhotra who worked on Indias first colour films Jhansi Ki Raani (1953). Additionally he serves as the CEO of DNEG the British-Indian company renowned for its expertise in visual effects animation and stereo conversion. Namit has produced Brahmastra: Part One - Shiva and worked as an Executive Producer on projects like Those About To Die Rally Road Racers Horizon Line The Hurricane Heist and The Sickhouse. Namit is also currently producing Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavis highly anticipated period drama Ramayana. According to Bollywood Hungama its one of the most expensive films in Indian cinema mounted on a hefty budget of Rs 835 crore. The film is expected to be released in two parts one during Diwali in 2026 and another in 2027.
