Yugeshwar Prasad Verma, a resident of Gumo in the Tilaiya police station area of the district, said that on March 2, at around 10 am, he went to withdraw money from an HDFC Bank ATM located near the Tilaiya police station. During this, his ATM card got stuck in the machine. Even after a lot of efforts, when the ATM card did not come out, a mobile number was written near the ATM. Guard was written next to it. He thought that this was the guard's number, so he contacted for help.
Called on the number written near the ATM…
During this, the person who received the call introduced himself as the ATM guard and said that he has come home to have breakfast. The cyber criminal who deceived Yugeshwar by posing as the ATM guard asked him to press some numbers on the ATM to help him take out the ATM card stuck in the ATM. According to the information given on the call, when Yugeshwar pressed some buttons on the ATM, an error occurred in the ATM. The machine stopped working. During this, the cyber criminal present on the call told him to take him into confidence that I can see you in the CCTV camera of the ATM, you are wearing a white shirt.
When he went to do UPI, he came to know..
He further said, after this, the cyber criminal talking on the call posing as a guard immediately called him to HDFC Bank. However, the person who came to withdraw money cited Sunday as a holiday. So the guard offered him a format near the bank, so that on Monday he could get the card stuck in the ATM from the bank. After this, when Yugeshwar Prasad reached near HDFC Bank located near Jhanda Chowk, the alleged guard made an excuse of some urgent work and said that he would help him online. During this, he took information about the last four digits marked on the Aadhar card. After this, he suspected something wrong, so he tried to transfer the money deposited in the account through UPI, then he found only Rs 278 left in his account.
The card was changed on return.
After this, Yugeshwar went back to the ATM machine where his ATM card was stuck. But, here he found a changed card inside the ATM. When he got the withdrawal information from the bank, the cyber criminal illegally withdrew Rs 7 thousand once and Rs 10 thousand three times, totalling Rs 37 thousand. After this, he complained to Tilaiya police and demanded action.
